The Corn Snake (Elaphe guttata guttata), or Red Rat Snake, is a North American species of rat snake. The name "corn snake" comes from the fact that it is often found in corn silos, usually in order to prey upon rodents, which it subdues with constriction. Corn Snakes are found throughout the south-eastern and central United States.
I'm must say that corn snakes are the best snake to keep for a beginner. No other snake comes in so many different colors. They are relatively small snake at around 3 feet. They are very docile unless your a mouse!
